Tillyfour Farm

The Mathers family farm at Tillyfour Farm, just outside Alford in Aberdeenshire.

The farm consists of 1100 acres of hill grazing and 1100 acres of arable. They run 270 cows – 15 pure Aberdeen-Angus and 255 commercial with heifers being kept for replacements.
Stots are sold fat with 100 stores being bought and sold on for fat.

The herd was established in 2003 using embryos brought in from Argentina. Stock sires that are being currently used come from Varies, Duncanziemere, Tonley, Wrar, Cheeklaw and Haymount.
The pedigree animals are sold at United Auctions at Stirling and privately with the commercial animals going to ABP in Perth.

Tillyfour Farm was home of the noted 19th century breeder of Aberdeen-Angus cattle, William McCombie.
